Nurturing the Whole Child
St Rumon’s CE Infants School and St Peter’s Junior School formed a hard federation from the 1st September 2008. We share one governing body and an executive headteacher who oversees the work at both schools. Please click here for more details about our federation work, future events, governors and the PTA.
About St. Peter’s
St Peter’s was opened in 1976 occupying a very pleasant, well designed building on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park. We are fortunate to have excellent facilities, including extensive playing fields, playgrounds, environmental and woodland areas and a computer suite and library.
As a junior school the children are aged between 7 and 11 (Education Years 3 – 6). The school currently has 156 children on roll, which are split between six classes. We endeavour to keep class sizes below 30. Classes are named after three of the local Dartmoor ‘tors’. Class sizes currently range from just 20 to a maximum of 32 pupils.
The school is noted for its friendly, welcoming atmosphere in which children are given every opportunity and encouragement to succeed. We foster high standards of achievement and expect good conduct and courtesy from the children.
